We are recruiting for a Category Assistant for a world-renowned British Electricals and Homewares Brand looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic and fast paced environment to join their friendly team.

Role
Reporting to the Category Manager, the Category Assistant’s primary focus will be to support the Category Manager with all aspects of administration and analyses. The tracking of product and samples through the cradle to grave product cycle, developing their own category management skills as they progress within the role as detailed below.
Product
Analyse our current category performance in sales and profitability to ensure our range size and mix are optimised.
To assist the category manager, identify new product opportunities within the category. This would include competitor and retail analyses identifying any gaps in our range, or new trends, designs or colourways emerging.
To identify the size of the opportunity by establishing the size of the market and our potential return within this.
Assisting in the development of a product brief (shopping list) which would include minimum specification, performance, volume and target cost and launch dates.
Add and track product lifecycle and performance cradle to grave including the full PiM process, sales performance and return rates.
Price
What is the product worth? Identify the market and our competitor products to ensure we are competitively priced v our core competition whilst maximising the return on sales, margin and profitability.
Place
Where do we want to sell this product? Are we looking for market wide distribution or some form of limited or exclusive distribution? Help to ensure we have full ‘buy in’ and support from sales and marketing prior to committing to product.
Promotion
Working closely with the sales and marketing team to assist in the development of a promotional plan that we ensure peak performance throughout the year, and to ensure we are able to minimise markdown through the product lifecycle.
Customer Experience
Working in conjunction with the customer service team to ensure our products exceed the quality expectations of our customers.
Requirements:
Commercially minded with confident negotiation skills allowing you to maximise profitability.
Personable, with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Comfortable in building relationships with our international partners and suppliers.
IT literate – proficient in using word processing, spread sheets and databases.
Self-motivated, highly organised and able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines whilst prioritising a busy work schedule.
A flexible team player with a can-do attitude and excellent attention to detail.
Able to work on own initiative.
At least 12 months experience in a similar role.
